A glimpse into our family, our garden, and the little things that make life meaningful

Hi, firstly I’d like to introduce myself. I’m a mother of two beautiful boys, currently 7 and 4, and a wife. Together with my husband, we’re kept busy raising our children “the old school way.” I homeschool our oldest son, and our youngest is kept busy learning and being introduced to words, letters, and numbers too. After the books are closed, we spend our days hands-on, growing food, cooking, baking, building, discovering, and exploring.

While I’m busy in the kitchen, garden, and with homeschool lessons, my husband keeps the family running in his own way — working hard, providing, and teaching the boys valuable life skills through real-world experiences. From practical problem-solving to understanding responsibility, he’s guiding them in ways that complement the hands-on learning I share with them. Together, we make a team — each of us contributing to raising curious, capable, and grounded children.

The Heritage Living Co was founded for many reasons. At the heart of it, I have a deep love for understanding where our food comes from, knowing that what we feed our children is safe, nourishing, and thoughtfully prepared. It’s about more than just ingredients, it’s about cultivating a connection to the food we grow and the meals we create, and passing on that awareness to our boys.

I’m often asked how I approach cooking or baking, or for tips on maintaining fruit and vegetable gardens, and I love sharing these experiences. There’s a learning curve to everything — from selecting the right seeds and understanding seasonal growth, to teaching children how to get hands-on in the kitchen safely.

Since choosing to homeschool our boys, I’ve also been asked a lot about how to start, how to structure learning at home, and how to make it enjoyable and meaningful for children of different ages. Sharing this knowledge, both the successes and the lessons learned along the way, is incredibly rewarding. It’s about offering guidance and insight to families who are curious about doing things a little differently, while emphasizing that there’s no single “right way.”

Beyond practical tips, The Heritage Living Co is about family, wholesome living, and sharing the journey. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about growing together, embracing what works, learning from mistakes, and passing along the little golden nuggets we’ve picked up along the way.

On this website, you’ll find content spread across cooking, baking, growing fruit and vegetables, and homeschooling, from starting out to practical tips and tricks that have helped us along the way. Our aim is to create a space where learning, experimenting, and sharing these experiences feels natural, joyful, and grounded in real life.
